While at IWA 2026 in Nuremburg, Germany this year, one of the firearms that I was most impressed with was the Armsan RS-S1. I posted about it earlier this year but it is one of my favorites so I thought it was worth revisiting and posting additional photos.
Normally I am wary of Turkish firearms companies trying to sell shotguns but the RS-S1 caught my eye. Manufactured by Armsan, a company I was not familiar with prior to this show, the RS-S1 incorporates a number of design features from two proven Russian military shotguns. In particular, it takes a Saiga-12 style receiver and adds a VEPR-12 style top cover, handguard, magazine system, and gas block.
The best part of the RS-S1 slowly revealed itself as I inspected it. Yes, the AK-style selector had a middle-notch and the word “Auto” next to it….meaning it had full-auto capability. Or that is just had a middle notch and the word “Auto” was entirely ornamental like they do semi-auto AKs in the states to make their replicas look more correct. I couldn’t find any salespeople near me to ask if it was actually full-auto, so I had to run a functions check. Yep, it’s actually full-auto.
